A Lodge for Friendship, Love & Truth

For more than a century, Portland Fraternity Lodge No. 6 has gathered in Woodfords Corner to practice Friendship, Love, and Truth—and to put those principles to work in the lives of its members and the wider community.

About the Order

What the Lodge Asks of Us

Odd Fellowship is more than good company. It asks members to show up for one another, to carry responsibility when it is needed, and to use their time and abilities in the service of something larger than themselves.

The Three Links are the lodge’s working principles. Friendship is the bond between members. Love is the duty to care for those in need. Truth is the discipline of character, honesty, and justice.

“To visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead and educate the orphan.”

Our History

A Hall Kept in Trust

Fraternity Lodge No. 6 was instituted in Woodfords Corner on March 29, 1886. Twelve years later, on January 3, 1898, the lodge dedicated the hall that continues to hold its meetings, traditions, and shared work.

This is not a history preserved behind glass. The lodge still uses furnishings from its earliest days, still keeps the hall, and still carries forward the work begun by the members who came before.

Get Involved

The Lodge Is Kept by Those Who Take Part

Every member brings something to the work of the lodge: time, judgment, skill, or a willingness to learn.

A lodge does not run itself. It is sustained by people who are willing to take a role, carry a responsibility, and help shape the life of the Order.

Whether you come to develop new abilities or offer experience you already have, there is meaningful work to do.

Learn the Work

Take part in meetings, ritual, committees, and the practical duties that keep a lodge functioning.

Carry Responsibility

Build leadership, mentoring, financial, and stewardship skills through service to the lodge.

Bring What You Know

Put experience in communication, fundraising, the arts, community relations, or grant work to use.

Become a Member

Membership Is Entered, Not Purchased

The first step is to make your interest known. Meet a member, visit before a meeting, attend a dinner or function, and spend time with the lodge. Membership begins with familiarity—not a form.

Those who choose to proceed are sponsored, learn what the lodge expects, take part in its life, and are considered by the membership. Joining is the beginning of a lifelong obligation to fellowship and service.
